DIESEL HEATERS
If you are looking to make use of your camper van into the colder months, diesel heaters are the most efficient way to keep a van warm, prevent damp bedding and condensation, and make camping in the winter much more pleasant. We install diesel heaters into VW Transporters whether they are converted already, or not. The heaters are underslung and can usually still be fitted if you have electrical items under your driver seat.
We only fit Autoterm heaters and these come with a 3-year warranty, as we are registered installers. These heaters also come with an optional smart modem that enable you to control the heater from your mobile (ask us more about these). We fit these heaters with the fully upgraded Comfort Controller as standard, as these provide you with helpful reminders to maintain the heater. You should run the heater monthly at full speed and the highest temperature, for around half an hour, to ensure that it burns off any carbon deposits inside the heater. This reduces the need for any servicing on the heater. You can expect the heater to last for 10 years+, if installed correctly and maintained. All you need to do is run it monthly at high temperature to burn off any carbon deposits inside the heater components. We've only ever had one heater fail (one that wasn't installed by us) and this heater was very badly installed, with the fuel pump inside (an absolute no-no) and it was at least 10 years old when it failed. It only needed a service to get going again but the customer decided to have a new heater installed given how badly it had been previously installed by another company.
You will need to have a leisure battery (or we can install this for you at the same time). The diesel source will be the main vehicle tank. The fuel pickup will not be fitted all the way to the bottom, so it will never fully drain the tank.
Get in touch with us for full details and installation dates. The installation of a heater takes around a day so you can drop it off in the morning and collect in the evening. 9am drop off, 5pm collection.
